Anime overload...

Post totally redone.

So... This last week was a busy one. I mean, when you have broadband and free time the thing to do is a) play some MMORPG or b) download anime. Since I don't have Ragnarok On-Line or World of Warcrack or something like that. Animesuki was the place to be.

So many fansubs so little time. To my surprise, April is the month when a new season begins, in Japan that is. So there were many new series with a flashing 01 next to them. Most of them were a waste of time, and only 2 or 3 were good enough to claim a place in the harddrive.

WIthout further delays....

The most hyped anime over at AnimeSuki is "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu". If you take out the fact that the first episode is just an anime representation of how would an high school amateur movie would look. It has all the bad things one would expect for an amateur movie: terrible zooms, terrible lights, terrible acting, terrible actors, too many continuity errors, terrible camera angles, terrible effects, an alien witch, a combat waitress of the future and a talking cat. oh, and I'm not joking about the cat.

If the first episode was bad, don't be fooled and watch the second episode. The animation is awesome. In this episode we learn about Suzumiya Haruhi, who can't give a shit for regular humans. She just wants aliens, time travelers, sliders, espers and stuff like that, then there's Kyon who's a regular human, Yuki who is an alien witch and Mikuru who is a combat waitress from the future. All high school students.

In all, this is packs a surprise after a surprise layered with laughts.

The second noteworthy anime is "Ergo Proxy" It has angsty androids, a paranoid agent in a distopia called "Real", the cuttest pajama since Lain, and the cuttest android since who the hells know, and the most gay android since C3PO. AH, it also has monsters that infect androids with self-awereness.

This is something like GiTS meets Blade-Runner meats philosophy class. The bad thing is that this has "Paranoid Android" as it's ending. Song that I didn't like when it was in the radio, nor do I like it now.

The Sunrise Mecha anime of the season is Zegapain. It has green sparkles like Mai Otome and Mai Hime had. Not a good sign. It has mechas with a green tone that Bandai could sell. Another bad sign. It has the whole "world within a world" thing. Since the Matrix that became a boring cliché. Worst sing of all. It also has the standar mecha pilot that pwns all in the first episode. The token female lead that help him realize his power yadda yadda yadda. The school student council in the cloaked mothership. To damn cliché to be good.

I just hope that gigantic swords don't appear somewhere. Or rushed battles with bad cgi, or a rushed ending, or the uberpowerful secondary character stealing the spotlight or .... who am I kidding, this is a Sunrise Mecha anime for Cthulhu's sake.
I will label this as guilty pleasure.

Now, anime I won't watch: Soul Link. If by any chance you see this and wonder "haven't I seen this characters before?". Then, you shouldn't because they are the standar hentai anime characters. I doubt something good will come from this. There are better things to do.

High School Girls: Can you say fanservice? Repeat after me. F-A-N S-E-R-V-I-C-E. And not in the good sense. If you want to know how japanesse high school girls live their lives while showing fan services at every oportunity, this is your show.

Air Gear, by the same guy that did Tenjou Tenge. This could be another guilty pleasure. But I still have mixed feelings. It's a story of a bunch of guys with motorized skates doing jumps and hops while the female characters show fanservice (while crows cover them). It's a fairly normal "want to be the best of the best" show. Manga's better.

Now, for the "ooooooh" moment. Digimon.

How knew that beating digimon was an option. Say Dice, does this series fits into the previous series or is some kind of alternate dimension where you could beat digimon while the police is in your side?
